Brigadista Available Again
Due to popular demand, Brigadista, the memoirs of Bob Doyle has come back into print soon after being unavailable for over a year.

On 22 January 2009, Bob Doyle the last surviving Irish combatant on the Republican side of the Spanish Civil War, passed away after a short illness. He was 92 years old. Up until close to the time of Bob Doyle’s death, he continued to speak at conferences, rallies and public meetings, not just in Spain or on the subject of Spain but wherever the voice of ordinary people is heard on an anti-war, anti-globalisation or pro-social justice platform. Harry Owen, who edited and annotated this book and was a close friend of Doyle’s is now carrying the torch for his causes.
'Over the past 30 years it has been a privilege to encounter Bob Doyle at various gatherings in London, Dublin and Waterford. I have long admired his zest for life and his willingness to go to any lengths to commemorate his fallen comrades'. Christy Moore.
'Despite, defeat, capture and imprisonment, Bob Doyle emerged from Spain with his faith in humanity undiminished... this marvelous book must inspire anyone who did not fight in Spain to know more about the anti-Fascist struggle that unfolded there'.....Paul Preston, Professor of International Studies, London School of Economics.
‘Brigadista is an incredibly important testament to a crucial but neglected part of our history’...Michael D. Higgins
'Bob Doyle’s life long struggle for freedom and social justice is an inspiration to everyone who wants to see a better world'. Ken Livingstone, then Mayor of London
